FlossTube #80 - How to Set Up a Stitching Rotation

Summary AI

Melissa (GeekyWitch) explains how to set up a stitching rotation, a method she used before having her son 13 years ago and is now revisiting. She defines a rotation as selecting a group of active projects (typically 3-10) and setting a consistent goal for each, such as a number of stitches or hours, before moving to the next piece. She demonstrates setting up a rotation in Notion, using a five-slot rotation with a five-hour goal per piece, and keeping one slot for backstitching or specialty stitching. She discusses how to swap pieces in and out, how to handle finishes, and how to adjust the rotation between cycles.

  • Melissa explains the concept of a stitching rotation and its flexibility.
  • She demonstrates setting up a rotation in Notion, using a five-slot rotation with a five-hour goal per piece.
  • She keeps one slot for backstitching or specialty stitching, traditionally for Teresa Wentzler patterns.
  • She shows how to mark pieces as done, swap them out, and handle finishes.
  • She suggests starting with a short rotation to fine-tune goals and feel progress.
  • She mentions that rotations can be used for any hobby, not just cross stitch.
Description from YouTube
Today I'm revisiting how I did all of my stitching before I had my son 13 years ago. I'm getting a little tired of counting stitches all the time, so I'm going to revisit rotation stitching based on a set number of hours. I'll explain what a rotation is and give you some different ideas about what types of things you can do with a rotation. It's not just for cross stitch. You can use this for any hobby you have (or all of them at once, if you want!)
