Join me for a flip through of the fantastic 1971 cross stich calendar from Haandarbejdets Fremme! This edition of Aarets Korssting features gorgeous designs inspired by Amager cross stitch with a lot of horses and birds and flowers and little doodats. Which one do you like best? A few additions: Since filming this video, I have realized why some of the patterns only feature borders on three sides: They're chest pieces for the front of clothes, so they don't need a border on the top! I have read in the very interesting book "Motifs scandinaves traditionnels" by Valéie Schira that the long legged cross stitch is indeed typical for Amager cross stitch. It has been described as a type of more braided cross stitch, which I think checks out! Let me know if you've ever stitched a pattern out of the Aarets Korssting books before! Which of the calendars is your favorite?
