Terms:
Rail Roading your Stitches: It’s a way to make your stitching look neater. It is easily done with strands in multiples of 2 but I am aware that it can be done with odd numbers of thread. When you are stitching, as you put your needle into the top of the fabric to push it through, you split the two strands where one is on the left of the needle and one is on the right of the needle.

Loop Start: A loop start is a knot-free technique for beginning a cross stitch thread by folding a long piece of floss in half, threading the two ends through the needle and then pulling a loop of thread through the back of the fabric to secure it with the fest leg of the stitch. This creates a neat, knotless start on the back of the work and is only possible with an even number of thread stands.
