I stitched with 415 Ruby on 37 count Russian Tea Cake, using a 28 tapestry needle.  I generally use a 10 short tapestry point beading needle with silks, but the Bijoux benefits from the slightly wider eye of a 28 tapestry

17th century band samplers: The Witney Antiques exhibition book, I Write the Needle's Praise was being stocked by the Attic and it's a wonderful collection of beautiful samplers.
