Upcoming Event -
Whitchurch Silk Mill, a working museum and operation silk mill in Hampshire, England has been weaving since 1830, using traditional skills historic working machinery to produce beautiful cloth and preserve heritage crafts.
Last year, they wove a bespoke silk for New York tailor Philip De Paola who is creating a replica of George Washington’s silk suit worn in 1789. The finished suit will be on display at the Morristown National Historical Park later this year ahead of the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence. Philip will speak in depth about the project and show the finished suit online on June 11th at 19:00 GMT. Details and tickets can be found here and funds will help the Mill sustain the weaving team’s skills and conserve machinery. They are grateful for any help to get this to interested people.
