Flosstube #54 How to Go to the 2026 Acorns & Threads Beach Retreat

I show my Henny Penny WIP. My finish was Jeannette Douglas' 2025 Jingle Ball specialty stitch mini-sampler ornament. The stitches were cross stitches, Ray stitches (pine branches), Bargello (pink and red lefthand ornament), satin and Hungarian stitches (the longer satin like stitches on the red and white righthand ornament with gold Treasure Braid), and Algerian eyelets (in green to the right). 

The Acorns and Threads 2nd Annual Beach Retreat is April 24-26, 2026. The "quilt shop across the street" is Center Diamond Fabrics. They did carry some fabrics appropriate for cross stitch during last year's retreat, although I don't see any on their Etsy shop. Their quilt fabric is amazing. They will be opening at 9:30 am on Saturday for retreat attendees. Get there early; the lines can be long. 

Going to the beach:
I will be taking a lighter colored canvas bag to carry my WIPs so I don't lose my keycards again!

Dress for changeable weather. I'm bringing three sweatshirts and long-sleeved T-shirts, and a couple hats.  

The retreat opens the ballroom at 9 am on Friday (I'm driving 3+ hours, so I plan on getting there after 10 am. Announcements start at 11 am. Friday night will be S'mores on the beach.

Nearby Seaside (north on Hwy 101) has Thai restaurants and Dutch Bros coffee (I will be getting up early each morning to get my coffee). Watch out for deer crossing the highway if you go to Seaside for early morning coffee.
