Variety Show

Women’s Work: Embroidery in Colonial Boston by Pamela A. Parmal

All-South Barbecue Rub (from The Thrill of the Grill)

2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons black pepper
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
4 tablespoons paprika

Mix thoroughly. Sprinkle generously on pork shoulder or Boston butt before roasting; also good on chicken. This is enough for two pork shoulders; extra keeps in the freezer.
